Kaya FC Academy Updates: Mar 2–Mar 8

Guadalupe Viejo on Mondays and North Forbes on Fridays are canceled through March because both venues are being used for barangay events. We are actively looking for another Rockwell venue and we hope to get one soon.

This coming Saturday and Sunday, we will have our last round of tryouts for the UFL youth league. On Saturday, the younger age-groups (i.e., U9 and U11) will train from 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. while the older age-groups (i.e., U13, U15 and U17) will train from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. We have opted to do this because during the last tryout we had 170 kids. We need to make more space for the players. On Sunday, we will train from 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. for all ages. Kindersoccer will take place on both days as per normal.

Congratulations to Coach Kenny and the U13s who won their category. Beating Loyola (twice), Nomads in the group stages and knockout phase, and Team GK in the final. The team had a perfect record with Ryoga Muronaga winning tournament MVP. Our U9s lost to Ateneo in the final despite taking an early lead, but overall, played some excellent football and scored some wonderful goals. Our U11s made it to the semifinals, albeit losing a heartbreaker in extra time to MFS. The U11s category, however, was won by BSM, which contained a number of our players in their side, with Noah Brock wining MVP honors.

The 3v3 competition on Sunday was an extremely exciting day of football! From U7 to U17, all the teams played with a high level of skill, determination, and sportsmanship. It was a very enjoyable event!

Thank you to all the players, parents, and staff for making it a huge success. Moreover, we would like to thank Raffy Herrera for helping us organize the tournament and to Neil Domelow (from Warren & Brown) for sponsoring the event.

We will post the photos of the tournament on the website and on our Facebook page this week, so please feel free to share them on your social media accounts once they are out.

  1. Hi! I was at the 3v3 tourney yesterday and I must say, it was a fun event! It was doubly fun because my son’s team, LSGH U15 won the Championship! We will surely come back next time! Just one suggestion though: when the boys wait up for their turn, maybe next time they can sit on the shaded benches so that they don’t get dehydrated. 11am-2pm is the hottest time of the day and it wasn’t very pleasant I’m sure. I see our boys pouring water on their shoes whenever they are out of the field! The artificial turf made it more unbearable because it absorbs the heat, causing the players feet/shoes to ‘burn’! Hope that you will consider this suggestion next time! Thanks!
