Kaya FC Academy Updates: Feb 9–15

Rockwell resumes tomorrow, Monday, and is on for the remainder of the month. The on-off nature of recent weeks, we hope, has now come to an end. We can consistently train at the venue now. The rest of the week’s schedule is as per normal.

This Saturday, we will also run our goalkeeper training with first-team player Matt Silva. He will be conducting GK sessions with the kids on a weekly basis and we would love the GKs to come out and work with him.

This week we sent out the information regarding the Nomads Cup and Kaya FC Academy 3v3 tournament. The Nomads Cup is usually a half-day tournament so it shouldn’t be too exhausting. On the other hand, the 3v3 competition should last a couple of hours per team. Neither will be very long so we would appreciate your support by turning out for both days for what promises to be a great weekend of football.

Regarding the 3v3 tournament, some of you have asked if we could help you find teammates/friends of players, as we are sure many are forming their own teams and not notifying you. If you know the names of the kids’ friends, Coach Chris can coordinate with the parents of the players and match you together. Additionally, if your son/daughter wishes to take part, but is in need of teammates, you can also ask Coach Chris and he can assign teammates for you. You may also partner with players from other schools/teams for the competition.

We encourage you to sign up sooner rather than later.

We will send out a separate email outlining the details of this year’s UFL Youth league within the week. There have been one or two changes, which we think are important, and we would like to clarify a few points with the league before sharing the details with you. We will confirm the tryout dates later this week, but keep Saturday, February 21, free as this will most likely be the first date for our tryouts.

Our UFL league campaign got underway yesterday with a 4–0 win against Army. Coach Louis and I both got on the scoresheet, and so did OJ Porteria (2), which was a great start for Coach Adam and the guys. It was also great to see many of the academy kids in the stands watching us play! Rizal Memorial Stadium may not be the most glamorous of venues, but we would love to see more of you guys out there to support us. Please come out to see us! The schedule of the matches can be seen at www.kayafc.com/fixtures.

A huge congratulations to the WFL team also as they triumphed over top of the table Nomads, 2– 1, on Saturday. This leaves us in a great position to take Nomads as we enter the home stretch of the season.

I think that’s all for now. Have a great week!
