Kaya FC Academy Updates: Feb 2–8

Kaya family,

Here is a review of last week and a few updates for this week:

Schedule

The schedule this week is as per normal, with the exception of Rockwell today, which is closed due to a prior booking. We do, however, have the field booked for the remainder of February.

Size 20 Uniforms

The new size 20 uniforms, which many of you have been waiting for, are now available and you may collect them this week at training. Please be reminded that all players will need the black uniforms for 2015, so please register as soon as possible if you haven’t. You must be registered in order to play and participate in upcoming tournaments.

Signing In

Over the last few days, players have been sneaking on the field without signing in or stamping their card. Please bear with us as the lines can be long. We are trying to streamline the process, but you may not jump onto the field.

GK Coach

We will be assigning a specialized GK coach to work with the players starting this weekend. It will most likely to be on a Sunday (we will confirm this later this week), but if their are other days which GKs would like to work then we might be able to accommodate. There has been a huge demand for this, but last year, we cancelled the program as players simply stopped showing up on the assigned days. If you are a GK, we recommend that you please attend.

Zobel Cup

After sending 5 teams to the Zobel Cup over the past two weeks, we did incredibly well, making 4 finals and losing the other one in the quarters to the eventual winners.

On January 31, Saturday, our U13s lost in a tight final to La Salle Greenhills, 3–2, in Coach Kenny’s first tournament in charge. The boys made a great first impression and he is excited how the season will develop with his new team. The U16 Girls continued their successful run, making it through the finals, with Coach Audrey’s girls succumbing to a very strong La Salle team, 1–0, in the final. The biggest heartbreak of the day was Coach Freddy’s U7s who lost on PKs in the final despite creating a number of good chances in regulation. PKs are always a tough way to lose a game, but Coach Freddy was extremely proud of how they played throughout the tournament.
