Kaya FC Academy Updates: Mar 17–Mar 23

Kaya Family,

Here are some reports from last week and updates for this week:

U19 WFL Champions

Our U19s were crowned WFL adult open champions, defeating Xavier, 4–0, on the night, 5–0, over 2 legs to complete the perfect season. This follows the sides Youth WFL title and UFL U17s title from last year. Congratulations to Coach Mike and Coach Inaki for all their hard work and the boys for the continued dedication to the club and each other.

Kaya Elite

A great weekend for our teams with our U17s, U11 black, and U9 yellow all winning:

U9 black showed dramatic improvement from week 1 with a hard fought game vs Pachanga. Although the team lost, Miguel Lao’s strike was the highlight of a great team performance for Coach Matt’s team.

U9 yellow made it 2 out of 2 with a 6–0 vs Loyola. Goals from Gael Guerrero, Mikael Celdran, Enzo Courbet, Liam Sy, Luis Sandejas, and an own goal clinched it for Coach Allan’s team.

U11 black played the most entertaining game, coming from 2–0 down to win 3–2 against Loyola. Diego Aspiras started the revival with a goal direct from a corner and two goals from Ozad Musaev secured the win for Coach Paulie.

U15 yellow lost to GAU in their first game of the campaign. The star of the show was Xavi Zubiri, although he featured for GAU and not Kaya FC! His 30-yard free kick goal before half-time set the tone for GAU although Coach Alfred can be pleased with his sides effort with lots of positives from the game.

U17s capped off a great weekend with a 12–0 thrashing of Global. Goals from Nino Herrera, Dan O’Reilly (both 3), AJ O’Reagan, Alex Hegenscheidt (2), Logarta, Joseph Guiao, and Enzo Jalandoni,

On a separate note, some of you have asked, “Why aren’t I on the roster or why haven’t I received my jersey yet?” If you haven’t completed the paperwork, you cannot play. Please send the paperwork to me/Honeylet complete and you can join the league. It is not my responsibility to chase you up—please ensure all paperwork is completed and we will process everything with our kit supplier and the UFL accordingly.

Schedule

The schedule is as per normal, with the exception of Sunday which is still out of commission. However, after speaking with the UFL, they plan on giving our slot back as soon as the UFL schedule is finalized so we should be back to full training asap. The remaining UFL schedule will be sent to you as soon as I receive it and will be posted on the website.

Clear Dream

I am hearing rumors that LMS youth players are getting behind their coaches and they currently have the most voted GK and Defender! Our academy players need to support Coach Drew, Coach OJ, Masa, Nick, Toshi, Kenshiro and of course…me! I am currently top of the midfielders but my brother is catching up fast! So get voting! Summer Program

Lastly, we have limited slots available at the Camp for our summer program as it is an indoor facility and we do not want to be oversubscribed so please sign up for the summer program ASAP if you want to join. We encourage ALL players on summer vacation to join. Elite players need to continue to develop their skills, Academy players need to try to build towards improving to make the team next year/tournament season later in the year, and recreational/new players get a chance to learn in a safe, fun environment with some great coaches and excellent players.

We have multiple locations/days for you as players and parents to enjoy so please take advantage of it. We are committed to improving the level of our players but that only comes with practice. The summer is the best time to hone your skills so please make the most of it!

That’s it for now, have a great week and I’ll see you out on the field.

Una Kaya!
