Kaya Academy Week beginning July 17th

Kaya family,

Thanks to all of you who came out to watch our season finale vs Global last- it was a very exciting game which we won 3-2 and ended their title aspirations. The game meant that Stallions ended up winning the UFL with us finishing in 4th place. It was great to see so many of our academy kids come out to see us play and hopefully it showed them what it means to play football for Kaya FC.

This week saw only 3 games in the UFL Youth with Coach Nates U11s finishing off the season strongly with a 4-0 win v Loyola. Goals from Alvaro Lorenzo, Fonzy Escobin, Razak Said and Sandy Young rounded a complete performance of excellent passing and solid defence. Coach Jonah’s U15s and Coach Paulie’s U9s unfortunately had set-backs to their title aspirations as they lost 4-1 (Ottmar Figuerroa) and 3-2 respectively (Nicolo Isorena & Brenn Mercado). They now need two wins in their last games to have a chance at topping the league. Also a huge congratulations to our Kaya GK team who made the U13 semi finals, eventually losing to Pachanga. A great achievement and we are all very proud of you making it that far!

July to September Training

The upcoming quarter is vitally important and we need to build on he momentum of the fantsctic summer that we have had. We have had a good response to our July-Sep program’s so please register early. Following the email earlier in the week, here is a little more on the program’s we will run:

Elite & Academy Training

We will mix the groups for the upcoming 3 months and focus our attentions on technical aspects of the game. It is important that our elite players continue to train with their teammates to allow for continuity within the groups, and it’s great for our academy players to integrate with some of our elite players. We off these at both our Fort Bonifacio centres (BGC & McKinley Hill, Wed/ Sat) and Cuenca, Alabang (Tues/Thurs)

With our primary focus to develop footskills, futsal offers the best way to improve our players’ comfort level on the ball. Working on tricks, skills and moves players will have much better all mastery. This is held at Forbes gym indoor facility, Thurs/ Fri for 13s and under, and the Camp times tbc.

Girls Only Football

This program is to accommodate the growing number of female players we have in our academy. We also have female coaches coming in to work specifically with our young girls. This program is aimed at giving girls a comfortable environment where girls can learn with other girls. This is held at Forbes on Mon/ Thu.

Speed School/ strength and conditioning

Coach Jonah is a qualified fitness trainer and will use his training to develop different facets of physical training. The speed school component is to develop proper form when running, improve a players quickness and agility. The strength training (primarily for older players) is to develop strength specific to football using a variety of methods including core stability, weights and resistance training. This is held in Makati, Tue/ Thurs.

This is for our little ones aged 3-7 and focuses on fun games and activities to develop basic football technique, coordination and teamwork. Learning in a fun environment, our coaches enable he youngsters to learn the game while having fun and developing key skills such as communication and teamwork. This is also held indoors at Forbes gym on Mon/ Fri.

Private Sessions

We offer bespoke 1 on 1 sessions for individuals looking develop particular aspects of their game and also small group sessions for players wanting to learn with their friends. This is a great way of getting more personalised training and working on working on specific parts of your game which need improving.

As per usual for this week for the training schedule and an update will be sent out re the Elite Game schedule. I will also be meeting with specific age groups this week to discuss what is needed moving forward and again thanks to those who handed in their questionnaire this week. More updates regarding your suggestions to follow very soon.

I think that’s it for now, have a great week and I’ll see you out on the field.

Una Kaya Kids!
