Firstly, thank you to everyone who came out to support the Kaya men’s team last week vs Loyola. Despite the rain, we managed to pull off a well earned 3-1 win so thanks to those who came out to cheer us on…and I didn’t even mention that I scored 2 goals…!
This weekend saw our Elite teams back in action, with the games going as follows:
Coach Paulie’s little stars continued their good form with a 5-3 win vs previously undefeated Pachanga. Despite going a goal down early in the game, they fought back with goals from Diego Aspiras (3), Diego Fuentabella and Joshua Dy. Coach Paulie was extremely proud of his team as they keep their 100% record
In a pulsating tie at UMak, Coach Nate’s troopers lost 2-0 in a tough fought game vs Green Archers. Jiggs Canon hit the post and Fonzy Escobin went close in the first half which Kaya dominated for large portions. In the second half Chris Hagedorn shot just over the bar before GAU took the lead. In pushing for an equalizer, GAU scored on a quick counter to put a flattering look on the scoreline. The 11s showed great signs of improvement and will no doubt get their first win soon
Coach Diego’s team lost 3-0 to LMS A Team in a well fought game. Following a heavy defeat before the season started at the hands of LMS, this result indicates that our 13s are closing the gap against the teams at the top of the table and having played the top 3 sides in their opening 3 games, hopefully they can string together a good run of results heading into the next part of the season
The 15s picked up their third win in as many games as Coach Jonah’s team swept aside Socceroos 6-0. Goals from Otmar Figueroa, Diego Pantaleon, Troy Limbo (2) and Jeff Morales (2). The team has a weekend off moving into the second half of the season where they will look to mount a serious title challenge.
A last gasp winner by Jonny McCartor secured a 3-2 victory vs a plucky Nomads side. Man of the Match Raffy Herrera scored 2 early goals to put us in the drivers seat but two long range efforts from Nomads pegged us back. Herrara’s corner in injury time found McCartor in the box who directed his header into the corner to give Coach Mike’s team a precious win for the league leaders.
Coach Inaki’s team made the best possible start when Jonny McCartor scored in the early mins against Agila. Unfortunately, we could not sustain the early pressure and Agila would eventually take lead going into the half at 2-1. With chances to equalize not being taken, Agila took advantage and scored 2 unanswered goals in the second half, securing a 4-1 victory.

I was at a number of games this weekend and I would like to remind parents of the code of conduct email I sent out earlier in the season. There will be no coaching from the sideline under any circumstances. There have been instances where coaches have felt players have been receiving conflicting information from the sidelines and this must be stopped. We all get carried away with the emotions of the game from time to time and encouragement is fine but please refrain from coaching.
Lastly, I have been conducting goalkeeper practices with our clubs GKs every session so please make sure that our keepers report to me at practice. Please make sure your child comes with long sleeves, long shorts/ pants and GK gloves for all sessions.
I think that is all for this week, enjoy the training and games and I look forward to seeing you all out on the field!
