This weekend was a great weekend of football for our club with 4 wins and 2 losses for our Elite teams:
Our little ones did a fantastic job winning 4-0 vs Green Archers. Coach Paulie was extremely proud of them with a great team performance. Goals were scored by Diego Fuentabella, Mikael Celdran, Brenn Mercado and Niccolo Isorena. Special mention also to Joshua Dy who made some excellent saves in goal!
Coach Nate’s team fell to an unfortunate 6-0 defeat to a very strong LMS team. The team played some excellent football and will no doubt bounce back next week. Arianna Tuason and Ravi Kotamraju played very well in the game.
The team showed great signs of improvement from week 1, narrowly going down 2-1 to an experience Pachanga team. We took the lead in the first half and were up 1-0 through Bryan Figueroa but unfortunately could not hold out. Still, each week Coach Diego’s team is improving and no doubt will continue to work hard.
Coach Jonah’s team continued their perfect start to the season with a 5-1 demolition of Nomads. The Figueroa family continued their goal scoring streak with Bryan’s older brother Ottmar Figueroa scoring a hat trick. The other two goals were scored by Troy Limbo with a pair of free-kicks. Jonah also credited is defense again for a tremendous performance at the back.
In very trying conditions at UMak, Coach Mike’s 17s produced another excellent performance in a 4-1 win vs Green Archers. After going behind early, goals from Jonny McCarter, Dan O’Reilly, Javi Romero Salas & Enzo Jalandoni completed the rout and kept their 100% record.
Coach Inaki’s side produced a clinical display in front of goal with a 7-1 win over Green Archers Foundation. Lui Clavano (2), John Awyoung, Marco Uy (2), Carlos Roberts & Jigs Sumera scored the goals in a very dominant outing at Emperador Stadium.
This week’s schedule is yet to be announced- last week we were supposed to have the final schedule but the UFL is ironing out a few last minute kinks and we should have it asap. Once it is sent, I will forward it to you.
I also want to address the RIFA games which we have going on over the next few weeks. With some of you competing in games for the schools, it is imperative that you let your coaches know if you are playing. One of the reasons why we have such big squads is to account for such situations, and if you do not tell your coaches that you are absent, it may take a gameday slot away from someone who could play. Please notify your coaches ahead of time so we can make the any necessary provisions. Also, we do not wish to burn kids out so let us know when you do play, how long you played for and if you are tired/ injured in any way.
Apart from that, this week is as per normal schedule (including Monday, even though it’s Election Day). Again, if you cannot make it, let the coaches know.
And if you have nothing to do on Tuesday, our first team has a big game vs Loyola in what is arguably the biggest game in the UFL calendar. I know we as players would love to see you come and support us so if you have time, come down to Emperador Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Thanks all, have a great week and see you out on the field!
